The Covid-19 pandemic has forced us like most Americans into self-quarantine. While it can be challenging to remain positive during these really scary and difficult times being at home has provided me with the benefit of having time available to weave. Because we are avid travelers I’ve always had to squeeze my weaving between trips. Covid has changed that completely! I have three looms of varies sizes and each one now has a project underway.
My floor loom is currently weaving a set towels inspired by the e-book “Baker’s Dozen 13 towels on 1 warp” designed by Anita Thompson and distributed by WEBS. Of the 13 towel patterns contained in the e-book I originally wove 4 and then settled on 2 designs which I’ve decided to weave as a Christmas present.

My table loom is weaving a sample set of bath mitts. The project, “Waffle Weave Bath Mitts”, is from the January/February 2020 issue of Handwoven. I’m curious how these will turn out and whether I’ll enjoy using them!

Finally, my inkle loom (a fairly new acquisition) is set up to create a cell phone pouch. It’s based on the project “Inkle Pouches” originally published in Handwoven Magazine.

The holidays will probably be celebrated separately from family so my goal is to create as many handwoven gifts as possible which can be easily mailed. Given that Covid will probably be with us for at least the remainder of this year and most likely longer I should have plenty of time to complete these and other projects!
